Workshops in June

Next workshops: Saturday, June 11 and 25, 12-4pm. We will meet in the church hall (56a Raglan St Waterloo) and online. Our teachers are Catherine and Andrew.

June 11:
Catherine says: In this workshop we ae going to make leaf mobiles and I apologise for my absence.

Materials:
The first two materials should be easy to collect owing to the recent  bitterly cold wind … and will encourage participants out for a walk in their puffer jackets.

  1. Leaves – preferably larger leaves like plane tree leaves
  2. Interestingly shaped small branches (see a lovely example below found on path in Phillip Street)
  3. String of two kinds … stronger string to suspend your branch and thin string or fine wire (fuse wire? Is there still such a thing?) to suspend the leaves. If you find one like the example below it can be freestanding.
  4. Black ink … or paints if you wish … pencils, paintbrushes, water jars, palettes.

You can paint words on your leaves or images (go gently, dry leaves crack easily) perhaps connected with winter but choose a theme …

This is a simple idea, but it can look effective, and can even make an original gift for someone with an appreciative eye for nature and art.

I hope you enjoy this … there is string in the cupboard (perhaps), black ink etc., and I will try to collect some leaves and branches today and pass them onto Andrew.
